The Marcelas - The Nocturnal Ep

A fast-paced, driven, horror, and despair for you. The Marcelas are one of the bands that will be right at home amongst all the greats on your playlist. Their debut EP "The Nocturnal Ep" is my favorite album from 2025 and should be on every deathrocker's playlist in 2025.

The Marcelas - The Nocturnal Ep

Need a break from all the sad wave, dark wave? Enjoy the punk side of the Goth genre that is Deathrock?

Well then, I have got a gift basket full of fast-paced, driven, horror, and despair for you. The Marcelas are one of the bands that will be right at home amongst all the greats on your playlist.

Their debut EP "The Nocturnal Ep" is my favorite album from 2025 and should be on every deathrocker's playlist in 2025.

  1. Nocturnal - A depiction of a fiend, captured in a dark bat cave to the soundtrack of Joy Division. Serves as a good introduction to what The Marcelas have to offer. Lyrics full of darkness, hitting all the tropes with all the confidence and sincerity needed to be endearing.
  2. Lobotomy - Picking up the pace, pulling in more of the horror that this band appreciates, and you will too. Serving as your introduction to the Spanish language that often goes underappreciated in Goth circles. The language slips between English and Spanish fluently, as they say. This song will punch you in the face.
  3. Kreecher - Proving that they can also make you dance, Kreecher brings in that synth sound that will let you DJs play it for the dark wave nights. Laying on more of the self-deprecating lyrics and campy horror influence. Because after all, I'm a creep and you're a weirdo.
  4. Morbid - Probably the saddest song ever made, the opening lyric will prove me right. Showing that they are not just after the Horror aesthetic, this song hits at some of the darkest feelings many of us experience. It does so with a guitar lick that continues the trend of being entirely catchy. A song to scream lyrics to in the car and scare the other drivers unlucky enough to be on the road with you.
  5. Vampire Breath - The catchiest song on the EP. This one instantly hooks you with an effects-ridden guitar lick. A crunchy, driving drum fill. It doesn't stop; the lyrics jump right into the grooves the guitar creates. This one will leave you not entirely human, but a Man-Bat!
